Community
A strong sense of community is paramount in any environment; Nasittuq believes that allowing people to still be who they are creates a more effective and happier work force. For an opportunity to learn about the benefits of joining this dynamic team, visit one of our career fairs or learn more about our training opportunities.
Nasittuq is very much involved with events at the community level. Each specific location (Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Hall Beach, Iqaluit and Goose Bay) all contribute back to the community by volunteering time, attending tradeshows/career fairs, meetings and conducting business locally.
Hall Beach and Cambridge Bay are very active with schools by helping provide baked goods for sales to help support various fund raising activities.
Training and Development Programs
Nasittuq offers exciting Trainee & Development opportunities to Aboriginal beneficiaries in the four land claim areas:
- Nunavut Settlement Area;
- Inuvialuit Settlement Area;
- Nunatsiavut (Labrador);
- Makivik Offshore Claim (Nunavik)
Beneficiaries who wish to experience new and challenging skill development and diverse environment experiences while working towards a trades ticket, management certificate, etc. The programs involve participants to commit 12 to 48 months of on-the-job training and formal courseware. To distinguish the two, the Trainee Program is designed to bring individuals to entry-level status while doing on-the-job training whereas the Development Program (apprenticeship) is designed to work towards a more senior level status and requires on-the-job training with a qualified trades journeyman or professional. There is also a designation or certificate to complete at the end of the development program.
Scholarships
Every year, Nasittuq awards scholarships to students who are beneficiaries of the Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, Nunavut or Inuvialuit settlement regions. Click here to learn more about scholarship opportunities.
