Nasittuq Wins Support Services Contract for Canadian Forces Station Alert

OTTAWA, Ontario

Nasittuq Corporation announced today that it has been awarded a Government of Canada contract to provide operations and maintenance support at Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert on Ellesmere Island, Nunavut. The eight-and-a-half-year contract is valued at $122M and there are two four-year option periods.

Nasittuq is the incumbent contract holder and has provided the site operations and maintenance services at CFS Alert since 2012. This new contract was re-awarded through a competitive bid process.

CFS Alert is a military station located in Nunavut on the north-eastern tip of Ellesmere Island, approximately 817 kilometers from the North Pole. Nasittuq will continue to be responsible for operating approximately 90 buildings, as well as maintaining the runway, roads, quarry operations, fuel farms, water treatment and accommodation services for the nearly 80 people who live and work at the station.

“This is an exciting win for us, and we look forward to continuing to do what we do best,” said Jody Langelier, President, Nasittuq. “Our deep-rooted Northern experience allows us to safely deliver real life support services in some of the harshest Arctic conditions.”

The award comes just months after Nasittuq was awarded a seven-year in-service support contract to operate the North Warning System. The work under this new contract for Ellesmere Island will commence in June 2023.
